Customer Story Transcript:
Veronika: Thank you so much for joining me today. Thank you for your time. So first let's start by your introduction. What is your name and what is your company and what do you do there?
Rushi: Yeah, so my name is Ruhi Jhaveri, one of the actuaries here at EPIC Brokers and Consultants. What we typically do is we'll feed in a ton of lost runs that are either in Excel or PDFs into our casualty model and develop ultimate claims on a historical basis and on a go forward basis.
Veronika: Oh, great. Thank you. So what are some of the challenges with the current process? How long does it take and how many people work on this and what is the process?
Rushi: So team, we have a team of seven actuaries here, and our current process is we'll have, like I said, we'll have Excel runs in Excel form and in PDF form. The PDF form version, so the PDF versions of loss runs are very hard to deal with because we have to manually input these losses into an Excel spreadsheet. Sometimes we're able to convert them, but most times we're not able to convert these PDFs into Excel. And so there's a lot of manual work involved in this. And so it takes a ton of time. It usually involves multiple people working on a singular project where if it was all in Excel, it would be a single person working on it.
Veronika: And so how long does it typically take?
Rushi: It takes, it depends on how long the loss run is, but for a loss run with a hundred losses or so, it typically takes about an hour and a half to two hours to manually put into an Excel workbook.
Veronika: I see. Yeah. So I would love to hear more about your experience with Archipelago. So we did it with the AI agent and what was it like?
Rushi: Yeah, it was a really good experience. So we worked with other vendors in the past and they've taken maybe 48 hours to return our loss runs back into Excel and Excel form.
Archipelago was a little bit different in that I provided the structure of the loss run, what my ideal loss run would look like in terms of the fields, the columns, the rows, et cetera. And then I submitted maybe a hundred different loss runs to Archipelago and within two hours I got back all the losses in my preferred structure loss run. And it was super easy to work with. And many times we work with prospects who need data really quickly, and so putting these PDFs into an Excel file and just responding back to them in two hours is priceless to us.
Veronika: Amazing. Great to hear. So what kind of work did it require on your end?
Rushi: The only work that wasn't really much work for us, other than really just gathering all the loss runs, putting it into a zip file and sending it over, and also sending over the structure of our loss run.
Veronika: Amazing. Thank you. And so I have one question that I like to ask everybody at the end of these interviews. So if you were to describe your experience with Archipelago in only one sentence to your peers, how would you describe it?
Rushi: I would say that the process is very seamless. I think Archipelago is a very, very useful tool for us.
